Hake is an exceptional fish that is tasty and eco-friendly. If you want a delicious fish without overspending, hake is your answer.
Our hake is caught nearby in plenty and comes straight from an MSC-approved fishery. It’s adaptable in the kitchen with a tender, smooth texture when fresh that transforms into a firmer, more meaty flake when you cook it.
Its delicate and sweet flavour complements robust flavours like chorizo.
Hake tastes similar to cod, so it’s a great substitute for cod recipes and helps maintain a sustainable fishery in the local area.
- Rich in important nutrients like selenium and phosphorus, this sustainably caught fish is netted and landed in Newlyn
- Available from April to November, it pairs perfectly with chorizo or smoky flavours.
Please be aware that we might have to send you frozen fish due to market conditions. The fish has been blast-frozen within hours of landing, but it may arrive partly defrosted, so it’s not suitable for home freezing.
The pictures provided are for illustrative purposes and serving suggestions only.
Fresh fish is tastiest when eaten immediately, or within 3 days.
If dispatched frozen, the fish might begin to defrost, which could make it unsuitable for freezing at home.
Keep your fish in the fridge and pack it with ice if possible.
If you want to freeze the fish, place it directly in the freezer upon delivery and try to consume it in 3 months.
TIP: Before freezing your fish, write the date on the packaging.
Do not defrost and then refreeze your fish.
