Mackerel is a fish found in all UK waters. It has blue-black stripes on its back and a shimmering silver underbelly. It is a quick, predatory feeder with dark, oily meat rich in omega-3s. Its flavor is one of the best available.
After catching it, gutting it, and barbecuing it right away, all you need is lemon and cracked black pepper to enjoy it at its best.
However, for a sophisticated meal, consider serving mackerel fillets with a slightly acidic touch. Try pairing them with a balsamic gooseberry compote or salsa verde for a luxurious dining experience.
- One of the best sources of omega-3 fats
- Abundant along the Cornish coast and sourced from Cornish fishing ports. Outside of the Cornish mackerel season we will source high quality mackerel from outside Cornwall.
- Normally available Jan-Mar and Jun-Oct.
